Region: Eastern Aegean Area: Limnos, Agios Giannis
 
Lemnos is situated in the northeastern Aegean Sea. It is clearly a volcanic island with small hills, wide valleys with fields of grain, vineyards and spectacular beaches. It is an island with a rich history, suitable for quiet and restful vacations.

The seven important wetlands with an abundance of birds such as the flamingo, as well as the well marked ecological routes, which are in quite good condition :

On the east side of the island the complex of Aliki, Hortarolimni and Asprolimni, on the northeast the Ahivadoli.
On the Southwest the Diapori, the region around the airport and the Gulf of Moudros.
The ecological route to the Gulf of Gomati and the “Megales Amdes”, gorgeous landscape of sand dunes which reach the sea.

ACTIVITIES 
In Myrina, the port and capital city of the island, visit the ruins of the Byzantine castle with its magnificent view (you might see deers as well), the Karatzadio Library, as well as the Ecclesiastical and Archaeological museum.
In Kaminia, visit Poliohni, the oldest Neolithic settlement of the Aegean.
In Kondopouli, sights worth visiting are the ancient sites of Ifaestia and Kavirio. The “Mandres” (ancient farms)of Limnos are excellent examples of the popular architectural style of the 19th century.
